Blessed with geothermal energy, Icelanders have a rich swimming and bathing culture. Public baths, lagoons and natural pools are to be found all around the country, often recognizable from the distance by sulphuric smell and mysterious steam. The Icelandic public pool is the place of good health and cleanliness, but also a place of relaxation and socialising.
